Michael Thompson is a graphic designer from Jamaica based in the United States. His  passion for posters really exploded when he visited Havana, Cuba, In 1978. As  a Creative Activist, posters are naturally the ideal medium and platform for solidarity and protest messages. The power of this creative medium has proved effective for over a century.  “Art should speak loudly and make an impact for those who pause for a moment to look and think. Art should not only make pretty statements, but also make an impact on the lives of those who struggle or are oppressed. ARTE BAROCCA (baroque art) The Baroque began at the start of the 17th century in Rome, then spread rapidly to France, northern Italy, Spain and Portugal, then to Austria, southern Germany and Russia. The first building in Rome to have a Baroque facade was the Chiesa del Gesu' ( Church of Gesu')  in 1584; (Church of Ges ù  - Rome) Baroque architects took the basic elements of Renaissance and made them higher, grander, more decorated and more dramatic. Complex architectural plan shapes, often based on the oval, with light also used to create dramatic effect and contrast; it streamed down from cupolas and was reflected from an abundance of gilding. Twisted columns were also often used to give an illusion of upwards motion, to drawn the eye upward, giving the illusion that one is looking into heavens. My art journey started last year when I decided I wanted to study interior design. Since in Italy I never had the chance to finish high school, I joint the Art and Design level 2 course to start to develop the confidence, knowledge, and ability I need to get where I want. Unfortunately, due to this unprecedented time we're experiences this year, the last few months of college were very challenging. To me, studying from home requires good self-discipline and a strict schedule, and sometimes it doesn't go as planned because it's easier to get distracted.  I decided to continue with the HNC Art and Design for the different subjects you try, I felt this was the best place to create a great Portfolio to get into University. I also think this is helping me to open my mind to new experiences, it's pushing me out of my comfort zone forcing me to face and resolve problems to achieve things I never thought I was capable of doing, to accept the mistakes I make and to just get thro
